Microsoft’s advertising efforts for the new Windows 8 operating system are finally paying off as more users are reportedly making the switch to the recently launched software.

Figures provided by Net Applications for the week of January 13, 2013 indicate not only that Windows 7 remains the most popular operating system in the entire world, but also that Windows 8 is attracting more users every day.

The latest Windows contraption had a market share of 2.25 percent last week, up from 2.06 percent one week before, while Windows 8 touch devices are also on the rise.

The same data reveals that Windows 8 computers with touchscreen displays have a market share of 0.07 percent. Even if figures remain low in this case, they still demonstrate that more touch-capable Windows 8 computers are getting sold as we speak, so the overall market share is expected to grow even more in the upcoming weeks.
