Microsoft is getting ready to roll out the first update for Windows 8, but the operating system has actually gained only a few users in the last month.

According to data provided by market researcher Net Applications for the month of May 2013, Windows 8 currently has a share of 4.27 percent, still behind Vista and its 4.51 percent score.

Just as expected, Windows 7 continues to be the number one operating system out there with a market share of 44.85 percent, while Windows XP comes second with 37.74 percent.

As far as Windows 8 is concerned, figures indeed reveal an ascending trend, but Microsoft's new flagship OS was most likely expected to take off by now. Its first update will be unveiled in late June, so let's just hope that all those changes would make it a much more appealing product.
