Windows 8 is a brand new platform from Microsoft, with a modified user interface and with a vast array of new features and functionalities that existing Windows users are not accustomed to.

For those who would like to learn more on the OS, a book is now available for purchase, namely “Windows 8 Step by Step,” authored by Ciprian Adrian Rusen and Joli Ballew.

As you would expect from such a book, it will get you through all the aspects of setting up a new Windows 8-powered computer for use, while also providing you with details and useful tips on some more advanced aspects of the platform.

“Experience learning made easy—and quickly teach yourself how to use Windows 8. With Step by Step, you set the pace—building and practicing the skills you need, just when you need them,” the book’s description reads.

There is a new start screen in Windows 8 to get accustomed to, along with enhanced features on the lockscreen, and a new way of using applications.

Windows 8 also comes with a new set of functionalities, called charms, and the book offers specifics on them as well, along with info on the new Control Panel, personalization options, and the like.

Some other useful info in this book would include:

- Set up a home network, browse the web, and use your email - Use multi-touch gestures on your touchscreen devices - Manage your files with Microsoft SkyDrive and Windows Live Sync - Play music and movies, and share your photos and videos - Download apps and games from the Windows Store - Help secure your computer and prevent common problems

With Windows 8 set to become officially available for purchase in late October, this book should prove a great option for all those interested in migrating to the OS. More on this book can be found on Microsoft’s MSDN Blog.
