Microsoft has created a new software category for pet lovers

Microsoft tries to make the most of the Store with special software categories rolled out every once in a while, most likely because the lack of apps has been considered one of the main setbacks of the new Windows 8.

This time, the Redmond-based software maker tries to appeal to pet lovers with a new subsection providing one-click access to animal apps, most of which are available with a free license.

“No one can resist kittens, puppies, big-eyed squirrels, baby turtles, piglets and narwhals. Go ahead. Just try,” the software category description reads.

Windows 8 users are thus invited to download games, education and photo apps to experience the world of animals without even thinking about leaving the Modern UI. As usual, all these apps work on every Windows 8 version on the market, including desktop builds and Windows RT flavors.
