“Photos” is one of the many Windows 8 Modern Apps that will be updated in the next few weeks, but as compared to the others, it will receive many more goodies.

First of all, the new “Photos” app will allow users to view photos and videos on network locations in their “Pictures Library” such as Windows Home Server, network shares and HomeGroups.

Another new feature will give them the power to move through photos in their “Pictures Library” even when they open them from the desktop.

Interestingly, Microsoft will also introduce some basic photo editing tools, such as crop and rotate for all supported formats.

Last but not least, the application will sport new auto-curated collage slideshows, which are pretty useful in case you work with large collection of photos.
