It will be formally launched, or at least previewed, at IFA 2012

Windows 8 will be released in October, but that doesn't mean that companies won't reveal laptops based on it before then.

Samsung has clearly shown this, having released a video that teases what may be a successor to the Series 9, or the first of a totally new range of mobile PCs.

Don't expect the video to make perfect sense though. For some reason or other, Samsung only allowed a few glimpses of the system while the rest of the video was preoccupied with turning clockwork: cogs, dials, springs, the works.

Samsung will hold two press conferences during IFA 2012, on August 29 and August 30. We should see both touch-enabled and touchscreen-less notebooks on display during the show.

Curiously, Samsung's video says that the design of the laptops is subject to change, meaning that we'll probably just see a prototype while in Berlin. After all, with less than a week until the show, there isn't time for modifications.
