Windows 8 will usher in a new era of NUI-enabled experiences produced with the help of Microsoft’s next generation developer platform. Just as Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2010 are intimately connected, Microsoft is building Visual Studio vNext for the developers building Windows 8 applications, including NUI apps.

The software giant has already demonstrated the natural user interface evolution which it will deliver with Windows 8 earlier this summer.

Windows 7’s successor will feature a range of NUI enhancements, from a new graphical user interface to a new application platform.

‘Immersive’ is the key word for the next gen experiences that the company is attempting to birth with the advent of Windows 8, an immersive UI, immersive apps, etc.

As far as developers are concerned, the key will be Visual Studio vNext, according to a job post share by Mary-Jo Foley:

“You’ve already heard all the buzz about the next release of Windows, internally codenamed “Windows 8” as announced at the All Things D conference in California on June 1st. This is your chance to work on the new Visual Studio tools that will enable developers to build these new, touch-optimized applications for Windows 8-based PC’s. Don’t you want to be a part of delivering the new set of tools to help developers build apps for this new and innovative platform?” reads an excerpt from the job post.

Microsoft already confirmed that Windows 8 will ship with a new developer platform. Essentially, the upcoming operating system will enable web devs to leverage their existing knowledge and set of skills in order to build apps for Windows 8.

Applications created with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript will run seamlessly on Windows 8, according to the software giant’s demonstration of the platform on next generation form factors at Computex in Taiwan.

It will be interesting to see how Visual Studio vNext will push development forward in the context of Windows 8.
