The latest round of leaked details involving the next generation of the Windows client seems to be revealing a twist on the Windows Aero graphical user interface.

Two new leaked screenshots provide a glimpse at what sources call the Aero Light design for Windows 8.

Users will find the images included below, along with a screenshot from an earlier development milestone of Windows vNext, courtesy of Russian website WinReview.

The latest details reportedly come from Windows 8 Milestone 3 (M3), a Build which Microsoft started working on at the end of February 2011.

Of course, the software giant has yet to confirm Aero Light for Windows 8, or any Windows 8 details whatsoever, at this point in time.

This is not surprising especially to those familiar with the Windows development process since Steven Sinofsky, now President, Windows and Windows Live Division, took the lead of the project.

In fact, the first actual information on Windows 8 from Microsoft is not expected until the operating system will be very close to graduating to Beta stage, sometime in the second half of 2011.

There’s no telling where the Redmond company will take Aero Light, as Windows 8 moves forward in terms of development.

Rumors abound of Microsoft using design elements inspired by the Metro UI in Windows Phone 7, with additional speculation indicating that Aero Light might be an alternative to the full featured next gen Windows Aero UI.

One thing is certain, Windows 8 will feature an UI overhaul, since the software giant has traditionally introduced redesigns with each new release of Windows.

But there’s nothing else set in stone in terms of Windows 8, especially with the operating system still at the M3 stage.
