It’s no secret that Windows 8 comes with a great pack of improvements, including security tools that are expected to keep its users on the safe side most of the time.

Aryeh Goretsky, researcher at antivirus software firm ESET, says that Windows 8 is by far the most secure Windows version ever released, but he emphasized that this doesn’t necessarily mean that its users aren’t exposed to risks.

Microsoft’s efforts in the security area of the new OS however cannot be denied, he explained.

“After reviewing the layers of technologies used by Microsoft to protect Windows 8, it is our opinion that it is the most secure version of Microsoft Windows to date. That does not, however, mean that it is invulnerable to all threats: if there is one thing we have seen time and time again it is that those who create malware adapt it to take advantage of technologies as they come into the mainstream,” Goretsky said.

"Wenn ich Kultur höre ... entsichere ich meinen Browning!" "Whenever I hear of culture... I release the safety catch of my Browning!" (Hanns Johst, "Schlageter" - Act 1, Scene 1)

Paraphrasing Hanns Johst, I could say: When I hear the word "secure", from Microsoft, I release "the safety catch" [a full system scan] of my Avira AV; or Hitman Pro; or Webroot Secure Anywhere...

The only "secure" thing, in the new OS, it is the communication link with Microsoft servers, link which allows them TO SPY their users "till the tips of their fingernails". The whole OS might collapse. But this link (and its associated modules) will never cease to function.

From THIS point of view, yes, Windows 8 it is, indeed, "a very secure OS".

After all, Microsoft has already "warned" us that we will live "in a world without walls".

But, who needs walls, when we got windows?! Windows 8, that is.-
