Microsoft’s Windows 8 is not doing so well these days, and reports coming from the Redmond campus are claiming that Steve Ballmer himself is actually disappointed with sales of the new operating system.

A Microsoft reseller told The Register that it’s all because of the changes Microsoft introduced in the new OS, while Windows 7 remains the best operating system to work on.

“You fire up Windows 7 and can quickly find your way around it. Do the same with Windows 8 and you spend two days wrestling with it in order to understand it,” the reseller said. “It's a disastrous product and is a really good excuse to get rid of customers.”

Windows 8, however, is expected to take off in 2013 when the PC market is forecast to post a slight recovery.

If all reports prove to be true, Ballmer blames PC manufacturers for the lack of Windows 8 devices, as buyers have only limited choices when it comes to acquiring computers running the new OS.

This is complete wishful thinking, why would hardware manufacturers load consumer unfriendly software on their products, when doing so will dramatically impact their sales-negatively?

Again,500 days to Windows XP 'Death', is an exaggeration,as it is,it's more likely to survive the demise of Windows 8,as, no doubt, will W7.

Here's why: manufacturers lost their ability to sell Windows 7 on their hardware when Windows 8 shipped. If Windows 7 is on a PC in a store, it's because it coming out of inventory. When inventory is gone, no more Windows 7 at retail.

It's true though. 1 month after win8 launch and I'm not seeing a SINGLE of these hyped hybrid devices, all-in-ones or ultrabooks at our local stores.

I went to town a week after launch, about 60% ready to buy a cool win8 device. The only things I saw in stores were win7 laptops that were upgraded to win8. So I went home empty handed.

I returned last week: still nothing.
During the summer, more then 40 (!!) such devices were announced by various manufacturers. WHERE ARE THEY?

Well, Windows 8 has replaced W7 on my laptop with no problems since launch. Boots in 16 secs is very responsive and very stable. Could it be that most commentators on W8 have never actually used it?

Regarding questions about reporters that write negative reviews, I'm also of the opinion most have not used Windows 8.

Windows 8 must be better than 7, but must look as 7 too, because peple are used to 7.
Nowadays, situation looks opposite and must be fixed. Programmers, we know you are superior birds anyway, so make 8 easy to use instead of killing us.

Actually, this newly released operating system formerly called Windows 8 has easy-access and adoption constrains. This means, one without much knowledge of earlier Microsoft operating systems will find it extremely difficult to understand. Besides, the requisite devices needed to experience the fullness and accuracy isn't really available as expected; searches from E-commerce will justify. During my testing period of the OS (preview copy 8400 build), an Averactec 8100 series computer with the processor speed of 2.5GHz and a memory of 3GB was used. It at-lease helped me to accrue a step by step orientation, but the power of the OS couldn't be experienced; considering speed, accuracy, flexibility and so forth. Basically, the OS is a challenging one. A great consideration of security and inter-connectivity(Networking) was observed.
