Many consider Windows 8 a confusing operating system and prefer to stick to Windows 7, even though Microsoft’s very own stats demonstrate that its new OS is actually selling like hot cakes.

But Nomura analyst Rick Sherlund claims that all this confusion concerning the new Windows could actually affect sales more than Microsoft has ever expected.

He claims that Windows 8 is off to an awkward launch and points out that 2013 is very likely to increase sales of portable devices, such as tablets and ultrabooks, which basically means that Windows 8 sales aren’t going to take off together with the PC industry recovery.

“Many users have already purchased an iPad and iPhone and may currently straddle both the Apple and Microsoft platforms and may be influenced to carry a single device that has greater functionality than the iPad,” he was quoted as saying by Forbes.

Microsoft has already launched the Surface, the company’s first tablet in history, but it remains to be seen whether it manages to boost Windows sales or not.

I think with intital slow start Windows 8 will be a great OS. 3 weeks back I bought my Surface RT with touch cover, have been using this to do my business work creating word documents/presentations, accessing my mail, managing my schedule, using sharepoint. So far it is impressive, fast and saved valuable time for while demonstrating work, presenting progress, going over contracts, billing etc which has impressed my customers and has been a great value to small business like us. With Surface Pro and other that in pipeline, if Microsoft projects it properly to enterprise and make it more sleek to attract young crowd, it will be great hit both for enterprise as well as general consumers.

I am using the Microsoft Windows 8 Pre Release version.
It took me a little time to find my way around this new Operating System.
Now however I find it really easy to use and find the different features easy to access.
Microsoft have been a really good company as far as I am concerned.
A lot of people find fault with Microsoft.
Microsoft pay for people to create patches and updates to improve their products.
I am very very impressed with Microsoft and with the After Sales Service that I find second to none.
Well Done Microsoft Intend to buy Microsoft 8 when funds allow.
Regards
Alan
