As it does with every new release of Windows, Microsoft has published the privacy statement for both the next-generation Windows client and Server.

Users interested in getting privacy-related information about Windows Developer Preview and Windows Server Developer can visit the official Privacy Statement page set up by the software giant on Microsoft.com.

The bottom line is, that for a variety of purposes, Windows operating systems, including Windows 8and Windows Server 8 will phone home to Microsoft and share user data with the company.

This is nothing new, as it has happened with every new version of Windows. In this regard, the Privacy Statement exists in order to offer customers full insight into the information that Windows platforms share with the software giant.

Landing on the Privacy Statement page, visitors will be greeted by a collection of highlights.

“These highlights of the full Windows Developer Preview and Windows Server Developer Preview Privacy Statement (“Windows Privacy Statement”) explain at a high level some of the data collection and use practices of Windows Developer Preview and Windows Server Developer Preview (“Windows”),” Microsoft stated.

“They focus on features that communicate with the Internet and are not intended to be an exhaustive description. They do not apply to other online or offline Microsoft sites, products, or services.”

As far as early adopters testing Windows 8 Developer Preview are concerned, the “Windows Developer Preview Features Privacy Supplement” is a must-read.

This section of the Windows 8 Privacy Statement deals with all the individual features in the next iteration of Windows that collect data and how they share it with Microsoft, those that do, because there’s also some that don’t.
