Accompanying the Windows Developer Preview, guidance for Windows 8 Developer Preview Build 8102 Milestone 3 (M3) is available for download from Microsoft free of charge.

The Redmond company might be implying that the Windows Developer Preview guide is only for developers, but the fact of the matter is that there aren’t any restrictions as to who can access it, and pretty much everybody can read it.

Windows 8 Developer Preview Build 8102 M3 has been available for download for almost an entire week now, with the first 500,000 copies going to early adopters in the first 24 hours after release.

It’s essential that users looking to test the first public development milestone of Windows 8 also understand just what has changed, and the Windows Developer Preview Guide does an excellent job of highlighting the evolution of the next major iteration of the Windows client.

It’s important to understand right from the start that Microsoft has put the concept of reimagining Windows at the basis of Windows 8’s development process.

“Reimagining Windows doesn’t mean starting over from scratch. Windows 7 fundamentals like speed, reliability, security, and compatibility make it the best operating system Microsoft has ever created. The next version of Windows (codenamed Windows 8) is being designed to build on what is great about Windows 7, delivering richer security features, faster startup, and longer battery life that runs on a wider choice of devices and chipsets,” Microsoft reveals.

“Windows 8 extends these fundamental features with a new touch-optimized interface. Windows 8 also provides the platform to create a whole new generation of full-screen apps that are based on modern web standards and available through the new Windows Store. We’ve redesigned the Windows experience and built on everything you already love.”

The Windows Developer Preview guide is a powerful resource that all early adopters testing Windows 8 Build 8102 M3 Preview should take advantage of.
