Windows 8 has often been called the new Vista, especially because it fails to stir up interest in the Windows platform, but it might seem like Microsoft’s new operating system is a bit more popular than the company’s biggest flop in history. At least when it comes to the number of Google Searches, that is.

According to a report published by PC Pro, the Google Trends service demonstrates that search interest has been higher for Windows 8 than for the Vista disaster, while Windows 7 accounted for the biggest share of the search volume experienced after launch.

Windows XP, on the other hand, is losing ground in the fight against the Windows versions, and so is Vista, especially because Microsoft is now struggling to promote both Windows 7 and 8.

As for the market share, Windows 7 tops the rankings with nearly 45 percent, followed by Windows XP with 38 percent and Windows Vista with 4.99 percent.
