A new round of statistics provided by Valve’s Steam platform reveals that Windows 8 is becoming a much more popular gaming platform, as it reached a market share of 11.65 percent.

Windows 7 64-bit tops the rankings with 54.18 percent, followed by the 32-bit version with 13.39 percent. Windows 8 64-bit is third with 10.86 percent, up approximately 1 percent as compared to March 2013.

Windows 7 has a total share of the Valve platform of 67.57 percent, down from 68.51 percent the month before.

Windows XP, on the other hand, is slowly losing users, as Steam data indicates that Microsoft’s soon-to-be 12-year-old operating system was installed on only 8.63 percent of the computers running the gaming app last month.

The only non-Windows platform that deserves to be mentioned is Mac OS X 10.8, which reached a share of 1.56 percent, an increase of 1.16 percent over March 2013.
