Microsoft is now working on a new Start screen customization option

Microsoft has already confirmed that it’s going to offer several new customization options for the Windows 8.1 Start screen, but a new report points to a somewhat unexpected setting.

Since the Start screen will be significantly improved in Windows 8.1, it’s very likely to feature what McAkins Online calls static and animated “tattoos” that allow users to tweak the background.

These tattoos can be easily customized by choosing a secondary Start screen color, the source writes. Of course, the animated versions remind of the famous Dreamscenes available in Windows Vista and allowing users to set a video as desktop background.

This time, however, the animated tattoos are much more resource-friendly, so the computer won’t be dramatically slowed down if you decide to use them.

More details on this particular feature will most likely be provided later this month when the company is slated to launch the public preview of Windows 8.1.
