Rumors about a potential Kiosk mode feature to be part of Windows 8.1 have been swirling around for a while, but it appears that Microsoft is really keen on introducing such a feature in the next Windows release.

Windows 8.1 build 9374, the one that got leaked over the weekend, comes with the Kiosk mode installed by default, which basically allows us to get more info on its purpose and settings.

Basically, this new option was designed to lock down a device in a single immersive app experience, thus giving users the power to limit computer access and set up app restrictions. Just like its name suggests, Kiosk mode is mainly aimed at businesses, such as stores, which need to launch just a single app for demo purposes.

At this point, it’s not yet clear whether the company is planning to keep this option in the final version of Windows 8.1, but as far as the leaked builds are concerned, such a strategy is very likely.
