14 DAY TRIAL // The Windows 8.1 development team joined an AMA session on Reddit to talk about the process of creating the new operating system, as users are finally able to download the update from the Store.
Asked to disclose one of the secrets behind the Windows 8.1 project, Windows team member Katie Frigon explained that Katy Perry was actually behind the improvements the company made to the built-in search option.
"A little known fact outside of our team is that for all the design mock ups of SmartSearch we used Katy Perry as an example. Our conference rooms were covered with Katy Perry images for a year!” Frigon explained.
Search has received a complete makeover in Windows 8.1, now allowing users not only to search for files on the local drives, but also for content online. From now on, users can look for links, settings, apps, and other items straight from their Start screen.
