Installation would only be possible on computers featuring all updates

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is very likely to be shipped as an MSU file that would take care of installation all by itself, so no issues should be experienced during the process.

It turns out, however, that users who’ll want to install Windows 8.1 Update 1 will need to be running a Windows 8.1 device that has all RTM rollups released by Microsoft in the prior months already deployed.

Of course, chances are that everyone has already installed these patches, especially if Windows Update is turned on for their Windows 8.1 computers, so in this case no user input would be required.

Here’s a list with the necessary rollups along with the available Microsoft links to get more information for each of them:

• Rollup A (KB2883200) • Rollup B (KB2884846) • November Rollup (KB2887595) • December Rollup (KB2903939) • January Rollup (KB2911106)
