Windows 8.1 Update 1 screenshots leaked during the weekend revealed that Microsoft is working to add new context menu-like options to the Start screen, in an attempt to make the Modern UI a bit more appealing for those still using a mouse and keyboard configuration.

Now Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott of WinSuperSite claims, via some unofficial sources, that these options would be offered for all Metro apps, not just on the Start screen, which pretty much makes sense given the fact that Redmond wants so much to give desktop users a new way to discover the Modern UI.

According to recent rumors, Windows 8.1 Update 1 is projected to be unveiled in early March via Windows Update in order to make downloading and installation much faster and easier.

Important features will likely miss from the update, including a Start Menu and options to run Metro apps on the desktop, as they’re both expected to make their debut in Windows 9.
