Windows 8.1 Update 1 was expected to launch in March, but according to a new report, the tech giant Microsoft has decided to delay the unveiling for one month.

Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet is reporting, via unofficial sources, that Windows 8.1 Update 1 will after all launch in April, as Microsoft still needs more time to work on specific features.

While OEM partners could still get the update in March in order to install it on devices expected to ship this spring, the Windows 8.1 Update 1 launch is now scheduled to launch on April 8, the same date when Windows XP is due to be retired.

Of course, the future release will still be delivered via Windows Update, as April 8 is the date when Microsoft will launch new updates for its products as part of the Patch Tuesday rollout.
