Windows 8.1 Update 1 is only supposed to debut in April, but screenshots allegedly showing the upcoming release are already reaching the web showing little information about it.

This new screenshot, which Win8China claims it shows a beta version of the upcoming release, is supposed to be living proof that Microsoft is working on a large update for Windows 8.1, even though little can be spotted in it.

If this screenshot is indeed accurate, the current version number of Windows 8.1 Update 1 is 6.3.9600.16581, which means that previous reports were true and Microsoft isn’t working on another kernel update for Windows.

As you can see, the Start Menu is still missing from the screenshot, despite all rumors that the tech giant could bring this feature back in the first large update for Windows 8.1.

Of course, just take everything with a pinch of salt until we really hear something official from Microsoft.
