Microsoft is expected to officially announce Windows 8.1 Update 1 in March, so the company is now in the middle of the testing process taking place ahead of the public launch.

In the meantime, various testing builds are reaching the web, and according to Windows leaker WZOR, a new version has now leaked.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 Build 9600.16606 has reportedly been compiled, which means that Microsoft partners are already testing it right now, so we’re getting really close to the official debut of the update.

Of course, the interest for a leaked copy of the update is growing, but WZOR claims that we still have to wait a little bit longer until this happens. Screenshots showing the upcoming update are expected to reach the web in the next few hours, so we’ll keep you posted on this.

Update: it turns out that Microsoft has enabled boot to desktop by default in this new build.
