Meet the new Start screen that’s going to be offered to Windows 8.1 users

As I’ve told you several times before, the Start screen will get plenty of improvements in the upcoming Windows 8.1, including some new customization options to become a bit more user-friendly tool.

As we can see in these screenshots posted by Win8China, the Start screen will also come with new settings for the displayed live tiles, as well as with sorting options to easily manage the installed apps.

Microsoft will allow consumers to use the desktop wallpaper as a Start screen background too, in order to make the transition from the desktop to Metro a bit easier for beginners.

The Start button won’t be visible when using the Metro UI, but users can easily access it by simply moving the mouse cursor in the lower left corner. On the other hand, the Start button is going to be always on top on the desktop and will get users to the Start screen.
