Microsoft has almost completed development of Windows 8.1 RTM

Microsoft is set to push Windows 8.1 to RTM next week, according to some people familiar with the matter, but a new report reveals that the company is ready to start work on the official version of the OS.

CNBeta writes that Windows 8.1 RTM will have build number 6.3.9600, which could be an indication that more big changes could be made to the operating system.

Unfortunately for those who can’t wait until an official leak comes out, Microsoft won’t comment on this kind of report, so let’s just wait for Windows 8.1 to hit RTM and take this with a grain of salt.

As you most likely know, Windows 8.1 will officially see daylight on October 18, but in case you’re already running Windows 8, you will be allowed to download the update from the Store a day earlier.
