Check out the new Start button available in Windows 8.1 Preview

Microsoft brought back the Start button in Windows 8.1 Preview, but instead of launching the famous Start Menu, it actually gets you to the Start screen.

While that's a bit disappointing for many Windows 8 adopters who expected to the get the Start Menu back in this important update, Microsoft claims that it's all supposed to make the operating system a bit more familiar and thus help users access their apps a bit faster.

At the same time, the software maker is also offering dedicated options to boot directly to desktop and skip the Start screen, which was actually one of the most requested features in Windows 8.

Strangely enough, the new Start button can't be disabled, which makes it nearly impossible to install third-party Start Menu apps unless you're ready to keep two different buttons on the Screen.
