Windows 8.1 Preview is almost here, but rumors and leaked features continue to reach the web almost on a daily basis.

Now more details on the builds prepared by Microsoft for the next Windows release have apparently been leaked, confirming that we’re very close to the public beta of the operating system.

Earlier this year, it has emerged that Microsoft would adopt a different strategy for Windows 8.1, splitting the development process in two major stages called “milestones.”

In addition, the tech giant was rumored to release just a single public beta of the operating system before a stable version projected to hit the market approximately two months after that.

As we can see in this Windows 8.1 release schedule published by WindowsBleu, we’re very close to the Milestone Preview of the new OS, as screenshots showing build 9422 have already reached the web.

While the Preview flavor will be unveiled later this month at the BUILD developer conference, there’s still no information on the launch date of the stable version.

According to some reports, Windows 8.1 could hit RTM in early August, approximately one month after the public beta gets to see daylight. The Softies think that one month should be enough to collect feedback and improve the stable product, so expect Windows 8.1 RTM to be here by the end of summer.

Either way, here are the preview builds of Windows 8.1 prepared by Microsoft for its partners, as they were published by the aforementioned source. Keep in mind that Microsoft hasn’t confirmed this list, so let’s take it with a grain of salt until the Preview version is released.
