The number of apps in the store is continuously increasing these days

Windows 8.1 has indeed stirred up interest in Microsoft’s modern operating system and it seems like developers are finally porting more apps to make them available for adopters of this platform as well.

At this point, MetroStore Scanner shows that there are more than 145,000 apps available in the Windows Store, more than one year after the launch of Windows 8, but only a few months after the debut of the Windows 8.1 OS update.

While the number of apps is clearly increasing, Microsoft still needs to tackle other important issues, including the spam entries that do nothing more than to try to capitalize on the popularity of some desktop software solutions yet to get a Metro version.

The games section remains the one with the most items, while freeware applications are still getting the majority of downloads on both desktops and tablets running either Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
