Microsoft released the new Windows 8.1 update to the web on October 17, but the operating system is only now available in 230 markets across the world.

At the same time, consumers can use it in any of the 37 included languages, with more packs available separate via Microsoft’s websites.

Redmond obviously continues to bet big on Windows 8.1, as it’s another attempt to revamp its OS lineup, but also to lend a hand to the collapsing PC market and boost sales on the long term.

The operating system obviously comes with a long list of improvements, including not only a brand new Start button, but also more customization options for the Start screen, Internet Explorer 11, and options to boot directly to desktop and skip the Modern UI.

Windows 8.1 is offered free of charge to Windows 8 adopters who download it from the Store, while those who want to purchase the stand-alone version need to pay at least $119.99 (€90) for the core package.
