Microsoft will most likely release the first Windows 8 upgrade sometime this year but, while the company has already confirmed the Blue internal codename, there’s no information on the official launch date.

According to some new rumors posted on WinForum.eu, Microsoft is currently pondering a public release of Windows 8.1 in September, even though initial reports indicated that August is very likely to be the month to witness the launch.

While nothing is confirmed and we should all take these reports with a grain of salt, keep in mind that Windows 8.1 is not a full-featured operating system, but only an update for the existing Windows 8.

Windows 9, on the other hand, is rumored to launch in 2014, with the first public beta projected to see daylight sometime in January, while the stable build could be unveiled in November.
