Windows 8.1 Issues: Limited or No Wi-Fi Connection After Updating
Wi-Fi connections no longer working after deploying Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 has been around for about half a month, but users keep finding issues affecting the way they work on their newly-updated computers. This time, many are complaining that Wi-Fi connections are dropping or are showing a limited Internet connectivity sign in the System Tray, making it practically impossible to browse the web.
Here’s what one of the affected users is writing on Microsoft’s Community forums:
“When I troubleshoot the problem using the system tool it is always the gateway that is faulty. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device drivers several times, installed the newest drivers directly from Intel, restarted the computer, etc. I can restore connectivity by turning WiFi off then back on, but the connection will drop at what seems to be random intervals.”
The issue doesn’t seem to be related to specific hardware configurations, but we’ve received reports that updating the Wi-Fi and router drivers could solve the issues.
Windows 8.1 might be incompatible with some Wi-Fi drivers, so updating the firmware is a must
