Microsoft has finally launched Windows 8.1 Preview and, just as promised, it comes not only with a Start button, but also with an option to skip the Start screen and boot directly to desktop.

That's the way we're showing you that we're listening to our users, Windows boss Julie Larson-Green said during the BUILD keynote, explaining that Windows 8.1 has been specifically designed to address customer feedback.

“Windows 8.1 will support the widest range of tablets and PCs and demonstrates how responsive we can be for customers. The preview we are releasing today is an important step for partners around the world that are building the next generation of Windows devices and apps,” JLG explained.

Of course, in the end, it's up to users to device if Windows 8.1 is able to address their needs, but it's pretty clear that Microsoft has come to a point when it has no other option than to listen to customer feedback.
