Windows 8.1, Microsoft’s latest operating system that got to see daylight in October 2013, received several updates today as part of the monthly Patch Tuesday cycle, but Redmond has also focused on performance and stability improvements in addition to security.

As a result, Windows 8.1 devices today receive a dozen of Windows 8.1 non-security updates, so make sure you install all of them as soon as possible especially in case you’ve been experiencing issues with the operating system.

Just like the security patches supposed to correct flaws in Windows 8.1, today’s non-security fixes are being delivered via Windows Update, so in case you device running the modern OS flavor is connected to the Internet, only minimal user input is required.

Basically, most of this updates are supposed to “resolve issues in Windows” and some require a computer reboot, according to official notes provided by Microsoft.

Windows 8.1 is also scheduled to receive a major update this spring that would bring enhanced functionality and new options, such as settings to pin Metro apps to the taskbar. At the same time, all Modern apps are launched in separate windows and come with a title bar and close buttons to provide mouse users with more options when accessing the Metro environment.
