More Steam users are making the move to the new Windows 8.1 OS version

Windows 8.1 is slowly becoming a successful product, as more users make the move to this particular OS version for all kinds of activities, including working and gaming.

Statistics provided by gaming platform Steam show that Windows 8.1 is currently the second top OS worldwide for gamers running the app after the very successful Windows 7.

At this point, Windows 7 has a combined market share of 63.07 percent, while Windows 8.1 now comes second at 10.75 percent, with figures very likely to grow bigger in the coming months.

Windows 8 is also among the top OSes on Steam with 10.01 percent for the 64-bit version, while Windows XP 32-bit is far behind with 5.96 percent and dropping as more users switch to modern platforms. The only non-Windows operating system in the top 10 is Mac OS 10.9 that has a Steam share of 1.80 percent.
