Microsoft made Windows 8.1 available in the Store in an attempt to make it easier for everyone to install the update, but it turns out that quite a lot of users are actually experiencing issues.

This time, it all comes down to a blue screen of death (BSOD) displayed during the installation process, with an error message telling users that the system was unable to create a ramdisk.

“[It also] shows error number 0xc1900101. On reboot, it restores my original installation and provides the following error code: 0xc1900101-0x20017,” one user is reporting on Microsoft’s community forums.

Microsoft claims that it’s all happening because of faulty drivers, so users are strongly recommended to download and install the latest versions for all available drivers.

Users, on the other hand, claim that doing this makes absolutely no difference, so waiting for an official fix from Microsoft is their only option.
