14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has already announced that 8.1 RTM is “done,” but older versions keep reaching the web, providing users with a short glimpse into the feature lineup of the upcoming release.
Windows 8.1 build 9483 is now available for download from a number of file-sharing websites, but keep in mind that it’s part of the escrow development stage, so it lacks some features available in RTM.
For example, WinBeta writes that the new wallpapers available in Windows 8.1 RTM are completely missing from this build, while the OS could be a bit unstable due to a number of bugs.
The RTM flavor, on the other hand, will arrive on October 18 and Microsoft is trying really hard to prevent leaks and make sure that no one gets it sooner than this date. Both MSDN and TechNet subscribers are projected to receive 8.1 RTM in mid-October as well.
