Windows 8.1 was officially launched last month and, since it brings so many improvements, it’s no surprise that so many Windows 8 adopters have already installed it.

Statistics provided by the Steam platform for the month of October 2013 show that, while Windows 7 64-bit continues to lead the charts with a 51.35 percent share, Windows 8.1 is also winning more hearts among gamers.

At this point, the 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 is installed on 1.75 percent of computers worldwide also running the Steam platform, while the 32-bit has only been found on 0.10 percent of these machines.

This means that Windows 8.1 has increased its Steam share by 1.16 percent in just one month, so the new OS version is very likely to continue its ascension in the coming weeks.

Windows 8.1 is available for free from the Store for Windows 8 users, while everyone else needs to pay at least $119.99 (€90) to buy the core license.
