Valve has released new statistics for its Steam platform

Windows 8.1 is also gaining ground among gamers, with new data provided by Valve’s Steam platform confirming that more users are making the move to this particular OS version.

The 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 has managed to increase its Steam share by 4.17 percent before eventually reaching 6.11 percent. The 32-bit edition, on the other hand, has only posted a 0.13 percent to .023 percent.

Windows 7 64-bit continues to leading the charts with 51.76 percent, up 0.33 percent from the previous month, while the 32-bit flavors comes second with 12.62 percent.

The aging Windows XP continues to be one of the top gaming platforms, as the 32-bit version is now running on 6.17 percent of Steam computers.

Windows 8.1 was officially launched in October and is now being offered as a free download to all Windows 8 users through the integrated store. A core license is priced at $119.99 (€90).
