Windows 8 has often been described as a real flop by many people, at least as compared to its predecessor Windows 7, but here’s a chart that comes to set things straight in this dispute.

Figures provided by Net Applications and used by Statista for this chart show that Windows 7 reached a 10 percent market share after only 6 months, while Windows 8 needed no less than 15 months to get to the same milestone.

Of course, Windows 7 continued its impressive growth to eventually become the world’s number one operating system, while Windows 8 continues the struggle to attract more users.

In the meantime, Microsoft has already launched Windows 8.1 and is now getting ready to reveal another important update, both of which being supposed to help the core Windows 8 operating system to address consumer complaints and boost last-minute sales before the arrival of Windows 9.
