With the much awaited Windows 7 beta out, Mac users were sure to grab it immediately and try installing in Boot Camp. Numerous issues were encountered by almost every user posting their experience over at Apple's Discussions forum. Successful installations were, nonetheless, reported.

Apple Discussions poster Chuck Bragg reported that “Well, I ran bootcamp and partitioned a 32gb drive ntfs. I ran the Windows 7 disc and installed without issues. I then inserted the OS X install DVD 1 and installed the bootcamp drivers, with the only hiccup being no sound and no isight. I downloaded the bootcamp update 2.1 (I believe) and got the iSight working, but still no sound. Then all I did was download and install the newest realtek HD sound driver r212, and everything so far is working great...”

Poster yanisdesign chimed in explaining that he had done the same, except he had partitioned his hard drive to 100Gb for the Windows 7 installation “But after I inserted the OS X install dvd 1 - I got error 2229 at the beginning. Just an error without any installations...” he wrote. User rebk0r was experiencing the same issue, confirming the 2229 error.

“It didn't work for me as well, 2229 error and nothing seemed to help,” he wrote. “But I got it figured out: I had a look at the logs of Windows Installer, and saw that the install failed because the Table 'LaunchCondition' could not be opened,” he explained. The Mac user posted a solution according to which you had to trick your Mac to skip some steps required by the installation.

“[...] Simply open up the Bootcamp.msi (patched or original, shouldn't matter), and right-click on the 'LaunchCondition' entry in the left scrollbox and select drop. This will delete the table and the install should run just fine,” the user claimed. “Strangely, my iSight keeps on 'unplugging,' but I had that with XP as well,” he added.

A number of users also reported audio issues, with some of them eventually being able to procure the right drivers. Compatibility with iSight remains unresolved.

Have you tried installing Windows 7 yet? If yes, post a comment below, or use our forum to share your experience with whomever might be interested.

Installed Windows 7 on Parallels. Installation was flawless. Unable to get any sound so far. I tried the RealTek R214 driver (the latest) but W7 won't recognize it. The hunt for a driver goes on...

Im running games from the program "Steam" on my computer. Problem free, just on the search for iSight drivers

Installed it just fine, had to manually install the regular mac drivers tho, but came up with one hiccup, I can run either sound, or the mic, not both. If i leave the audio drivers uninstalled I can run the microphone and no speakers, but once the audio drivers get installed, then I get speakers but no audio.. other than that tho, the OS runs without a hitch.

I have Windows 7 installed on my Macbook 2.4. No issues at all with the install - very quick and easy. A few things have showed up. Installed the Realtek driver to get the sound going. One strange issue. If I mute the sound and reboot, I am unable to get the sound to work. I have to unmute and then reboot again to have sound back. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
Isight is working just fine. I cannot get my mighty mouse to connect to the bluetooth. Just seems to hang at the connecting stage.
Was able to get HFS explorer functional by disabling UAC so I can read from my mac HFS drive. Gadgets do not work when UAC is disabled but found a fix for that in the sidebar settings.
A little buggy (but then it is a beta) but probably the most promising Windows OS I have seen. I liked Vista (did not experience the problems that others seemed to) but the more I use 7, the more I realize it is way above Vista and XP.

I installed trough parallels 4 Windows 7, everything was very easy but I'm still without sound (trying to fix it) but the big deal is that I can't update under "windows update". Internet is working, I tryied both "shared network" and "bridged network" of parallels but still no way to update wiindows 7... It seems that is no connection with internet... but as I'm posting here, internet connection is working!?! very strange... any suggest?

I installed it on my bootcamp partition and it works very well with the noteable exception of "sleep". It sleeps just fine actually, it's the waking up part that isn't functioning the way it should. OTOH, shutdown and startup are quicker than on any previous windows version that I've had.
I really enjoy using it (once I figured out what it took to initiate a right click with the trackpad!). Even the iSight camera is working!
Again I've had no problems with anything that I am aware of with the exception of the sleep turning into a coma.

Tried installing W7 on a separate partition (bootcamp) on my iMac Generation 1 (white case). GeForce 7300 GT driver that W7 tries to install BSOD's during the final install phase. Firmware for the card is updated. Does the same whether or not I am doing a clean install or an upgrade.

Ideas anyone?

I installed W7 on my white 24" iMac with GeForce 7300GT. It installs ok until it tries to use the updated driver from MS, then it does BSOD. I managed to finish the install by booting into Mac OsX after the first boot during the W7 install. The I started VMWare fusion and finished my installation from there.

After digging around a lot the only driver that works partitially is the 1.2 bootcamp driver ( that is the XP driver ). It still BSOD if I do some 3d stuff, like activating a screen saver.

This is driving me mad, I've tried almost all those drivers, and I suspect it will BSOD under Vista as well.

Any comments on this crappy 7300GT card is appreciated

i installed windows 7 on my macbook, 2.4 duo core, everything is running smoother than i thought, at first a few drivers were missing such as sound and i-sight, but i just inserted the Mac OS X install CD and it opens up boot camp and installs the missing drivers for you, its just the same as if you were using a PC to run Windows 7 ... Goodluck

Instal of windows 7 in my Mac with snow leopard went fine but I can't install the drivers. When I insert the mac OS cd it gives me the option to run the exe but then when i accet it turns around and says this is not compatible. I run bootcamp 3.0. trying to install the realtek driver manually. none of the bluetooth, isight and someother stuff work.
