New data revealed by Net Applications for the week of November 11 reveals that Windows 7 remains the world’s top operating system with a market share of 45.59 percent.

Unsurprisingly, Windows XP retains its second position with 39.46 percent, while Vista completes the podium with 5.50 percent.

The interesting news concern Windows 8, as Microsoft’s latest operating system is slowly increasing its market share, with more users making the move to this software.

Windows 8 currently holds a market share of 1.02 percent, still not enough to beat Linux and its 1.37 percent score.

Of course, all these stats are likely to change soon, as more users deploy Windows 8, but it’ll definitely take a few years until this new OS overtakes Windows 7 and takes control of the leading spot.
