Microsoft is by no means losing sight of the fact that Windows continues to be the most important gaming platform worldwide. In fact, the latest move from the Redmond company is designed to streamline the way in which gamers running Windows PCs can access gaming titles. On December 15th, the software giant announced that its Games for Windows ‘Games on Demand’ service was available to all Windows users, including those running the most recent iteration of the Windows client, Windows 7.

“You can now download full version of games via the newly launched Games for Windows Games on Demand service. You can see the complete list of games now available [via the client]. Once you download the Games for Windows client, be sure and grab Tinker. This is a free game that will allow you to add some new achievements and couple of hundred points on to your Gamerscore for free and while you are sitting at your desk,” revealed Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson), the director of programming for the Microsoft gaming network Xbox Live.

You have been able to read that Tinker is now available as a standalone download for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP SP2 and SP3, earlier today right here on Softpedia. Tinker is of course offered for free, having been resurrected from the now otherwise defunct Windows Vista Ultimate Extras.

Still, don’t believe for a second that Windows Games on Demand is limited to Tinker. Gamers will be able to leverage the new Games for Windows LIVE Setup 3.2 in order to grab a plethora of titles, including: Fallout 3, Batman: Arkham Asylum, DiRT 2, Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, Viva Piñata, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Quantum of Solace PC, Battlestations Pacific, Dawn of War II, Halo 2 (PC), etc. the client also offers access to additional content, beyond the actual games. Users will be able to grab game demos, add-ons and even video content for specific titles.

Through Games for Windows - LIVE Setup 3.2 gamers will be upgraded to version 03.02.0217.00. The latest release is fully compatible with Windows 7; Windows Vista; Windows XP SP2 and SP3. Of course, as far as PC-based gaming is concerned, Windows 7 with its innovative DirectX 11 technology is the present and the future, at least for a couple of years, until the next generation of Windows drops.

Games for Windows - LIVE Setup 3.2 is available for download here. Tinker (formerly from Ultimate Extras) for Windows 7, Vista and XP is available for download here.
