Hot on the heels of the first and only Release Candidate of Windows 7, N-trig offered a fresh package of drivers designed to integrate with the latest development milestone of the next iteration of the Windows client. In this regard, Windows 7 testers running the operating system on top of the following computers: Dell Latitude XT, Latitude XT2 and HP TouchSmart tx2, can download, install and take advantage of the N-trig DuoSense Multi-Touch Beta Package version 2.59 for Windows 7 Release Candidate Build 7100, with support available for both the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) flavors of the platform.

“The DuoSense multi-touch package for Windows 7 Release Candidate enables ISVs and developers to experience the Hands-on effect, and allows software applications to be developed with integral multi-touch capabilities,” revealed an N-trig representative. “In this package, more than two fingers can be used simultaneously as input devices.”

N-trig emphasized that the DuoSense Multi-Touch Beta Package 2.59 was designed specifically for Windows 7 RC Build 7100, and that it was not meant to integrate with earlier releases of Windows. In the past, older variants of DuoSense featured device level-enabled multi-touch gesture detection. This made possible the integration with operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows Vista, both lacking native multi-touch support. The latest version of the package however, is tailored only for the Windows 7 protocol only.

“This release contains a full software package that demonstrates true multi-touch digitizer functionality (for more than two fingers simultaneously), and is also compatible with standard Windows 7 capabilities, and protocol,” N-trig explained, adding that version 2.59 of DuoSense Multi-Touch Beta Package came to the table with support for stylus, Windows 7 64-bit, palm rejection, and dual-boot, and could be configured via the Control Panel.
