In certain scenarios, Microsoft’s latest iteration of the Windows client will be a must-have holiday accessory along with mistletoe, Christmas trees, and the “trademark” cookies and milk for Santa. It is the case of Saks Fifth Avenue, Microsoft revealed, which will embrace not only the holiday spirit, but also Windows 7. According to Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communications Manager on the Windows Client Communications Team, Microsoft and Saks Fifth Avenue are laboring in order to make the successor of Windows Vista the centerpiece of the season, albeit one that will only support the user experience while letting the retail aspect of the holidays take center-stage.

Specifically, Saks Fifth Avenue plans to have its holiday windows powered by Windows 7. However, making Windows 7 a part of the Christmas retail experience at the New York outlet will go deeper than the store windows. Microsoft noted that the latest Windows client would be deployed throughout the store allowing customers to interact with the technology.

“While this may seem an unusual pairing, the best holiday traditions are the simple ones. Windows and Saks are bringing a 60 year holiday tradition to life and celebrating the simple things that make this time of year special, spending time with family, connecting with friends and sharing good cheer. In addition, fashion and technology are hot items this holiday season and consumers today want their personal technology, like their fashion, to be as unique as they are. Just as Saks Fifth Avenue enables customers to find their personal style, Windows 7 gives customers the ability to customize their PC experience,” LeBlanc noted.

Customers visiting Saks Fifth Avenue for their holiday shopping will be able to get a closer look at Windows 7. Microsoft explained that it would have company experts on site, ready to answer any questions customers might have, as well as to provide assistance when coming to additional hardware and software products accompanying the Windows 7 computers.

“Saks’ holiday windows have always been about telling a heart-warming story. Windows 7 will help tell this year’s story, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Flake, with greater detail and excitement, as customers will find holiday windows enhanced through technology. Together, the two companies will share holiday cheer while entertaining New Yorkers and tourists alike in a new and captivating way. The Center 6 windows on 5th Avenue will showcase several of the book’s vibrant scenes and bring Twinkle’s world to life before shoppers’ very eyes,” LeBlanc said.
