Windows 7 Personalization Gallery Revamped

Microsoft has revamped the online destination dedicated to offering free content for end users to personalize their copies of Windows 7. The Windows Personalization Gallery, unveiled alongside the latest Windows client has suffered a minor redesign, set up to better organize the resources offered to customers by the Redmond company.

Users already familiar with the Windows Personalization gallery will undoubtedly notice the changes. Both the Windows 7 themes and Desktop backgrounds categories now feature a range of submenus with the content catalogued according to certain characteristics.

Windows 7 customers browsing for themes, will be able to easily filter through the theme packs served by the software giant, by choosing to see only the new content available, or themes featuring various topics, from animals to nature and landscapes. The same is valid for Windows 7 wallpapers, which have been grouped in accordance to similar criteria.

“These theme packs [and desktop background (wallpaper) images] contain the intellectual property of Microsoft and other third parties. They are offered for download solely for your own personal use. Any other use, including the redistribution of the theme packs, or any other conduct in contravention of the applicable Terms of Use or End User License Agreement, is prohibited. Windows 7 themes can only be used in Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate editions,” Microsoft noted.

Microsoft offers a wealth of free content for download, set up to permit Windows 7 users to customize their desktops. Furthermore, the Redmond company continually updates the Windows Personalization Gallery with new themes and wallpapers. Softpedia readers already know that I have been providing updates as soon as new content was published. From the high level of interest generated by the free themes and wallpapers, it is clear that the Windows Personalization gallery is an excellent idea, one that needs to evolve and be tailored to Windows 8.
