Even though Windows 8.1 is about to get its first major update and Windows 9 is in the pipeline, Windows 7 is still experiencing quite a terrific success, so it’s no surprise that so many manufacturers are still selling PCs running this particular OS version.

ZDNet has conducted a small research to find out how many Windows 7 PCs are still on sale at two major OEMs, determining that those who don’t like Windows 8 and want to stick to its predecessor have plenty of computers to choose from.

HP for example is selling 65 Windows 7 notebooks and 31 Windows 7 desktop computers, while Windows 8 is running only on 17 laptops and 4 desktops.

Dell, on the other hand, is selling no less than 38 Windows 7 laptops and 23 desktops running this particular OS version, so it’s pretty clear that Windows 8 still has a long way to go to take over the new PC world.
