It might be Android or iOS the platform that is leading the tablet market, but when it comes to desktop computers, Windows 7 remains number one.

Statistics provided by market researcher StatCounter and revealing web traffic data for the month of November 2013 indicate that Windows 7 is at this point installed on 51.81 percent, while Windows XP is far behind with only 19.3 percent.

Windows 8 is also trailing behind with 7.52 percent, while Mac OS X is next with 7 percent.

Windows 7 is also said to be the number one destination of Windows XP users willing to make the move to a newer platform before the 12-year-old platform goes dark, as Microsoft plans to discontinue it on April 8, 2014.

Microsoft, on the other hand, hopes that more users will actually pick Windows 8.1 as their next operating system, emphasizing that it’s the most secure, reliable and fastest version of Windows ever released.
