Microsoft’s latest version of its in-house browser has doubled its market share

Internet Explorer continues to dominate the browser world, but the good news is that IE10 is now playing a much more important role for the Redmond-based giant Microsoft.

A new round of statistics for April 2013 provided by market researcher Net Applications indicates that Internet Explorer 10 currently has a market share of 6.02 percent, more than double as compared to the previous month.

The reason for this impressive growth is quite simple, actually. Microsoft recently launched the Windows 7 version of Internet Explorer 10, so many users rushed to download and install it, dumping not only previous editions of the company’s browser, but also Chrome and Firefox.

IE10 is already projected to receive a major upgrade this summer, as Microsoft is working on Windows 8.1, the next Windows release that also packs Internet Explorer 11.
