Windows 7 Is No Longer Microsoft’s Top Priority

Although it’s currently the most popular operating system in the world, Windows 7 is no longer Microsoft’s main focus, as the company prefers to pay more attention to its brand new Windows 8.

The Redmond-based technology firm won’t release DirectX 11.1 for Windows 7 platforms, in a move that’s believed to force gamers to switch to Windows 8.

What’s more, Microsoft is apparently planning to dump service packs completely, so Windows 7 users won’t get a second service pack for their operating system. Instead, the Redmondians prefer to focus on more frequent updates that could keep their products up to date.

Internet Explorer 10 will arrive on Windows 7, but only in a preview form for the time being. There’s no word on the final release, so it’s pretty clear that Microsoft isn’t quite eager to release this new browser version.

In the meantime, Windows 8 users get all the goodies, so if you’re craving for attention, make sure you deploy the latest Microsoft operating system.

I will upgrade to Windows 9.....
MS has a history of alternative hits and misses with windows...
Win 95/ Win 98, Win ME/ Win Xp, Win Vista/ Win 7, Win 8/ Win 9 ...
Going by this record it is no wonder MS is willing to leave no stone unturned to make its half baked Win 8 a money earner

They already stopped supporting some things for windows 7 before 8 was released. Making my move to Linux even easier to decide upon. The above is cementing that decision. Once steam hits Ubuntu windows as a gaming platform will be less relevant too.

Why is Microsoft pushing Windows 8 so hard? Is there some coding in Windows 8 that the public is not aware of? I mean here we have a major software company with government ties wanting it's new flagship OS on all computer systems NOW! I've seen Microsoft push before but never to this extent. I for one am a little worried by this. Something isn't right here.

Ubuntu 12.04lts or 12.10 is the way to go. I only use Windoze 7 for gaming, everything else Ubuntu... LINUX FOR THE WIN!
