Customers leveraging Group Policy in their organization and experiencing Active Directory environment issues can turn to a resource provided by Microsoft for potential fixes.

KB2590914 is now live on the Microsoft Support site, an article designed to provide a list of recommended updates, as Microsoft put it, for Group Policy in Windows client and Server products, including Windows 7.

In fact, KB2590914 covers all supported versions of Windows platforms, including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in addition to Windows 7.

There are two sets of hotfixes and updates, one for Windows Group Policies and the other for Windows Group Policy Preferences.

Customers will be able to find the two lists provided by the software giant at the bottom of this article. As the Redmond company noted, the fixes and updates on the list are nothing more than recommendations.

In addition, the collection of refreshes and hotfixes put together by Microsoft is not meant to be exhaustive, which means that those customers that did not find a solution for a Group Policy among the links provided by the company should continue to look.

Instead, the software giant has merely worked to provide easy access to solutions for some of the common problems impacting Group Policy or Group Policy Preferences.

IT pros that have yet to encounter any Group Policy-related problems should not proactively deploy any of the updates of hotfixes, Microsoft stressed.

At the same time, the refreshes they do deploy need to be tested extensively in order to assess whether it actually resolves the AD problems IT professionals are trying to deal with.
